Pachanga!

The PALL 2010 excavations have closed and we’ve submitted a brief summary to INAH while we work on the more detailed annual report. One of the more interesting finds was this structure (12M-3), which was detected through prospection behind the main mound and between the three largest at the site. We exposed a large portion of the structure and recovered abundant evidence of food storage and preparation, at a supra-household scale possibly relating to community consumption events. The evidence includes various grinding tools, semi-complete storage and service vessels, a circular stone alignment that could be the base of a granary, and a roasting pit full of burnt rock. We are awaiting the results of the chemical study to better understand this possible “fiesta” spot.
